I’ve passed Mollie’s Diner in South Oxfordshire many times on my way to and from Roves Farm. Situated on the A420 and within easy reach of Faringdon, we decided on the spur of the moment to go for a family meal on Sunday evening. Luckily we booked before we set off as they were really busy.
Mollie’s Diner has a modern, American style feel with an open kitchen that runs the length of the family friendly restaurant and booth seating. There was a busy buzz with chilled and relaxed atmosphere perfect for family dining.
We’re a family of 5 so were given a lovely big booth with plenty of space. They have both an adults menu and one for children. Mini Mollie’s kids menu was good value with a range of choices from a cheeseburger to chicken bites and Mac & Cheese to grilled salmon. Priced at £6.50 (Jan 2023) it included fries and a drink too.
My younger two both went for the cheeseburger without cheese (always slightly embarrassing when we go out to have to asked for everything to be taken out!). The burgers were a really good size and would have actually satisfied my eldest too. It’s always hard to know what kids portion sizes are going to be like so I was impressed.
I went for the buttermilk chicken burger which is my go to if it’s on a menu so I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur. It was absolutely delicious with a wonderfully crispy coating and soft bun. I think I pretty much breathed it in! My husband chose the double patty burger and it was a winner too. Sides are priced separately, while mine were piping hot, my husband said his sweet potato fries were warm rather than hot, so that was the only small drawback from our visit. The lighting was atmospheric and low so my photos really don’t do our meals justice, just means I’ll need to back for lunch.
The milkshakes are soooo good and I’d be tempted to stop in just for this next time we’re passing. My younger ones had the classic vanilla and my eldest had an Oreo milkshake and was not impressed that I kept trying to sneak a little myself whenever he wasn’t looking.
Service was fast (really fast), friendly and with the great decor and food, we really felt like we’d had a special family dinner out.
