Garden of Eden Cafe at Daniel Department Store Windsor

For most parents, having something to entertain the kids when you go out to eat is high up the wish list. If this is you too, then you’ll love Garden of Eden on the first floor of the Daniel Department Store in Windsor. The café has a large and very well stocked play area for little one that has a gate and is overlooked by several tables, so you can keep an eye on them as they play.

The menu at Garden of Eden is also excellent and includes a range of kid’s options. The café is vegan/vegetarian and has everything from full meals like burgers and pizzas to lighter options like flatbreads, soup and jacket potatoes. I had the grilled vegetable flabread with cheese and was offered both dairy and non-dairy cheese options. This came served with curly fries and was filling and delicious.

The kid’s menu includes a vegetarian cooked breakfast and the usual favourites of meat-free fish fingers and chicken nuggets. At the time of writing all the items on the kid’s menu are £4.96 which we thought was great value. (Feb 2025)

If you still have room after you main there are also a range of puddings that scream comfort food, like chocolate sponge with custard and treacle tart with ice cream. There are also gluten free options for dessert, so you won’t miss out if this is your dietary requirement.

There’s also a wide range of drinks on offer including bubble teas and smoothies. I went for one of the freshly made, organic smoothies and it felt like it was packed full of goodness. The coffees also arrived beautifully presented with espresso and hot milk separately so you could mix your perfect blend.

After all that delicious food you are also on the same floor as the legendary Daneil’s toy department which is truly every child’s dream. There’s lots of interactive areas to play with too like a life-size Brio train and Duplo truck.

Next time you are in Windsor and looking for a family friendly option for lunch, we would definitely recommend Garden of Eden. It’s well worth a visit.

If you’re in Windsor with little ones, we’ve reviewed lots of Windsor childrens playgrounds.  There’s a great day by day guide to toddler groups and classes in Windsor too.
