Are you looking to make the most of the August Bank Holiday weekend before kids go back to school?  There’s not quite as much happening as usual in Oxfordshire but I’ve pulled together the events happening and some great ideas for family days out.

What’s On August Bank Holiday Weekend in Oxfordshire

• FREE Fairy door trail at Trap Grounds Nature Reserve (Oxford)
• Hire rowing boats at Blenheim Palace right up until 30th August
• Summer family entertainment for the August bank holiday weekend at Blenheim Palace.
• Celebrate summer at Harcourt Arboretum with fun and games on Saturday 29th August.
• Family fun day  at the Abbey Meadows (Abingdon) on Saturday 29th 12-5pm. All money raised for charity!!
• Science Oxford family open days are amazing and they have one running this Saturday
• All welcome to the big hay rake on Sunday 30th August at St Mary’s Fields in Kidlington
• Cutteslowe Park miniature steam railway will be running on Sunday 30th August.
• There’s a family garden day at The Malborough in Didcot on Sunday.
• Buckinghamshire Railway Centre are running a steam day on bank holiday Monday.
• Tea Time with the Mad Hatter interactive performance at the Oxford Botanic Gardens is running right through to bank holiday Monday.
• Animal racing at Roves Farm

Where to go for a Family Walk in Oxfordshire

Family Days Out in Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire is packed full of great attractions for a days out with kids.  Here’s are a few ideas but there are loads of reviews on Red Kite Days from play parks to children’s farms.

• Oodles of idea for the best children’s farms, wildlife park and zoos.  The Cotswold Wildlife Park is an absolute highlight for my kids.
• After a major refurbishment The Story Museum in Oxford has reopened it’s ground floor galleries as part of phase 1 of their reopening.
• Escape the rain with a trip to the Ashmolean Museum.  It’s still free but you need to book your entry in advance.
• Enjoy 20 acres of fresh air, sunshine and wide open spaces at the wonderful Cogges in Witney
• If its raining you might as well get wet.  Check out teen reporter Jess’s review of Wet n’ Wild aqua park.
