Oxford Maths Festival 2023

£3The Oxford Maths Festival is back on 13-14 May! With activities, games, puzzles and new tricks for families with children aged 4-13.
Saturday 13 May: Hands-on activities including at Templars Square Shopping Centre. This is a drop-in event that is free of charge for ages 3+
Sunday 14 May: Hands-on activities, board games, craft, talks and workshops, all at the Mathematical Institute (advance booking required £3 fee)
Hands On Family Maths – Hands-on activities for you to attempt at your own pace. Have fun exploring maths with engaging, playful and creative activities. Ages 5+
Mathematical Board Games – For mathematical board game fun, come the Maths Institute and play some of the games on offer. Ages 5+
Crafty Maths – make something beautiful and mathematical. Origami or a card, just get stuck in! All materials and equipment provided. Ages 6+
Number, Shape & Patter – Join House Of Maths and Charlie the Maths Cat for a laughter-packed hands-on session with shapes, numbers and fun. Warning: sometimes the numbers misbehave – please shout out if you spot any mistakes! Ages 4-5 years
Mathmatical Mind Reading – How can maths explain “mind-reading” and other incredible feats? Join House Of Maths to learn how to bemuse and astonish your friends, teachers and family with amazingly tricky tricks that really work. Ages 9 – 13 years
Quads & Rods – Discovering surprising properties of 2D & 3D shapes by hands-on investigations using paper, tape and string. Adults can play too! Ages 9 – 13 years
Cunning Maths – Why are clocks weird? Why were the Romans rubbish at maths? And what shapes are best to juggle with? Join House Of Maths to find out the answers in a fun-packed show that’s cunning, clever and crazy. Watch out at the front: you may get a little bit wet! Ages 7 – 9 years
Truth Detective – How should we make sense of the numbers that surround us every day? Tim Harford, presenter of BBC More or Less, offers his tips and tactics for young truth detectives. Ages 10 +
